WALKS
The meadow walk
The cottage and gardens are set in a secluded wooded valley, approximately 1 mile from the sea; the coast can be approached only by well made footpaths, traversing National Trust ancient oak woodlands. The South West Coastal Footpath meets the Bocombe footpath at Peppercombe, or at Bucks Mills if approaching from the west.

CRUISE TO LUNDY Take the ferry from Bideford to isolated Lundy Island for the day. Enjoy spectacular coastal views from the ship, cliff top walking and amazing sea bird colonies. If your sea legs are not up to it, there are two helicoptor services that can transport you in minutes to Lundy's panoramic views.

A GOOD DAY'S EXCURSION
Drive down into Cornwall for full day visits to The Eden Project, or Lands
End, St Ives for the Tate Gallery, Padstow for Rick Stein's famous Seafood Restaurant; the county of Cornwall is just down the lanes from Bocombe.
The Eden project

CYCLE The famous Tarka Trail runs close to Bocombe for long distance, traffic free cycling. Or just take to the famous Devon lanes. Cycle hire is available locally.

SWIM in the sea or two local swimming pools

SURF at the coasts many famous beaches

RIDE at numerous local stables

FISH at the coast or take Sea Fishing trips with local boats from Clovelly & Appledore. There's coarse fishing at nearby Melbury Water too.

SAIL in the estuaries and bays, and out to sea

SHOP at several local potteries, furniture craftsmen, galleries, candle makers and plant nurseries

RELAX in the WORLD BIOSPHERE STATUS countryside of North Devon; you'll be surprised how quiet it is!
