Whilst on a walking trip to Snowdonia we ventured to the National Trust garden in the Conwy Valley, Bodnant Gardens. What a treat! It was fairly quiet and being October we were allowed to bring our dog with us. The gardens were excellent with much still in flower – we wonder how they maintain such a long flowering period for so many varieties…. |
And we purchased a NEW plant for our own garden. A Salix purpurea Nancy Saunders. A wispy willow with delicate grey foliage on slender maroon stems. It should thrive in our valley bottom that is mostly wet… (even though the RHS says it should be planted in soil that is “moist but well drained”).
