As our garden slows down for winter we’re changing to our once a month Looking Good blog, until next March. On the first Monday of each winter month – something NEW.|
And again this year – we’re newly planting another few hundred English Bluebells alongside one of our streams. See them in April, along with hundreds and hundreds of Narcissus throughout the garden; there’s another few hundred of those planted this autumn too!

The heavy rain we’ve experienced over the past few weeks has caused two new springs to pop up in our valley bottom. It’s nothing new here. Each winter the rainfall and ground conditions cause new springs to erupt and old ones dry up. If the eruption is across one of our grass paths then action is needed!|
So we construct a boardwalk over the small flow of water. Two years later it’s often relatively dry around it, but we need to construct another boardwalk over a new spring / mini-stream. All of this water is wonderful for our three Bog Gardens, though visit us with wellies – just in case!
